Looking at bmw 240i or a 340i : r/BMW - Reddit
Hi guys I’m looking to buy a new bmw 240i or a 340i I prefer the look of the 240i. What would you guys recommend, and is the 340i faster or does it sound better compared to the 240i ?

The 240i is a luxury "sports" car, not a true sports car, it is meant to be fast enough but be driven on the street. If you take both to the track you will feel a lot of difference and all the shortcomings of the 240i. On the street you won't notice at all.

Jan 8, 2023 · While BMW is great at hiding the weight, you can't cheat physics. That said, the only alternatives in my mind, if one doesn't need the back seat, is a Cayman or an Emira, but I don't want a four cylinder engine and I don't want to pay six digits.

Apr 1, 2024 · But how about the suspension setup, ain't there a difference in comfort since the 240i is an M-Performance model? Comparing our F20 120i and 140i, there was a night and day difference between these setups, the M140i was very harsh and bouncy on the rear with the factory suspension.

Mar 31, 2022 · BMW were good about it though and replaced as good will. It's tge perfect hybrid between reliable and comfortable daily driver and fun spirited rwd chassis. Back seat is surprisingly useable too.

Dec 24, 2021 · The old 240i had the same engine as the new one and had x-drive in all but the right hand drive models. The new version has the B58 outputting more power and comes with an lsd. Op ..the 240i will be a lot more fun.

Jan 28, 2022 · It also seems like the base performance of the 718 is actually slower than the Z4. 0-60 on the BMW is at least reported quicker. Z4 at 3.9 and Cayman T at 4.4. Even the Cayman GTS at $87,000 doesn't quite reach that. I know BMW lacks the cache of Porsche, but the Z4 blew me away honestly. It screamed.
