2024年11月11日 · This, and I'll toss the Cold Steel Trail Boss out as a decent Bushcraft axe option that's mostly off the shelf ready. Sharpen it up and thin out the handle and you'd have a solid tool for not much coin. Also the Bahco files are a great suggestion. Most files you'll come across in stores these days are worthless for axes.

I felled and processed 2 medium size trees in our yard with nothing but 2 boys axes. I learned a ton by doing that after reading and watching. Bucking with an axe is a bit of a learning process.

2019年12月2日 · For bushcraft I use a bearded concave head, closer to a tomahawk or small dane axe than to a european lumbering axe. The beefy edge makes it forgiving to field sharpening mistakes, the concave head takes away a lot of weight. And the weight is important if you keep moving around a lot.

2010年1月5日 · It hasn't budged in over a year. Its my favorite axe. I even put a bead around the bottom and a thin coat on top, like caulking, to prevent weather from getting in. The adhesive is polyurethane based and dries with a little bit of a rubbery texture to it. Not sure what the bushcraft community thinks but hey it seems to work great for me.
