ASU Art Museum centers art and artists in the service of community well-being and social good. The Museum is a learning-centered teaching institution, providing interdisciplinary learning opportunities for students from across the university ranging from the sciences, humanities, journalism, sociology and schools of arts and design.

ASU Art Museum Ceramics Research Center is located at the Brickyard on the northeast corner of Mill Ave. and 7th St. in downtown Tempe, three blocks north of ASU Art Museum’s primary location at the Nelson Fine Arts Center.
History - ASU Art Museum
ASU Art Museum was founded in 1950 with a significant gift of American and Mexican masterpieces purchased by Oliver B. James. Over the course of five years, James donated close to 150 works of art, including paintings by Edward Hopper, Georgia O’Keeffe and Diego Rivera.

Ceramics Research Center & Archive - ASU Art Museum
Eight hundred ceramic objects reside in open storage representing the mid- 20th century to the current day. ASU Art Museum displays clay sculpture and pottery, from familiar functional pots to abstract forms, from earthenware and porcelain with glazes to unglazed pit-fired vessels.
