President Donald Trump has missed his deadline for ending the war in Ukraine . Of course, no one truly believed Trump would be able end the grinding, three-year conflict in 24 hours, as he implausibly promised repeatedly as a candidate. Even his new special envoy to Ukraine has asked for 100 days to find a solution.

Ukrainians hope that Mr. Trump’s planned peace initiative will not let Moscow prevail, warning the U.S. leader not to trust his Russian counterpart.

Finland's Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen said she believes there'll be a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine this year. "I'm pretty sure there will be a peace agreement this year," said Valtonen, speaking at an event at the World Economic Forum in Davos,
