A Dutchess County war hero who was killed during the Korean War has received the Medal of Honor after a push by U.S. Rep. Pat Ryan to get him that top military honor, according to the congressman.
The award is given to those who "distinguish themselves conspicuously by gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of their own lives," according to the White House.
President Joe Biden on Friday awarded the Medal of Honor -- the country's highest military award -- to a group of seven U.S. Army soldiers, six of whom were honored posthumously.
