Ohio will join several other states in raising its flags to full staff on Inauguration Day, despite a nationwide mandate to fly flags at half-staff in honor of former President Jimmy Carter, according to Ohio Governor Mike DeWine.

Eight states have ordered flags to be flown at full-staff on Inauguration Day, while Ohio and the Capitol have ordered flags to be lowered to half-staff in honor of former President Jimmy Carter.

Governor Mike DeWine has ordered all flags to be flown at full staff in Ohio for the inauguration. Flags throughout the country have been flying at half-staff since the death of former President Jimmy Carter on Dec. 29.
