Dube ́and colleagues investigated associations between emoji use frequency, attachment style, and emotional intelligence across genders and relationship types in a sample of 320 adults.
If you use lots of emoji when messaging your friends, you may be more emotionally intelligent —that is, better able to understand your emotions and those of others.
The psychological impact extends to adults as well. Regular use of emojis as emotional shortcuts can lead to a reduced emotional vocabulary and decreased ability to articulate complex feelings.
