The long-awaited Hollow Knight: Silksong has been in development for nearly six years. Initially planned as DLC to Hollow Knight, it eventually became a full fledged sequel that's highly anticipated by fans. However, aside from some brief glimpses here and there, it's been pretty quiet from developer Team Cherry.

One of the most anticipated indie games of all time, Hollow Knight: Silksong is "real, progressing, and will release", with fans still begging for an update more than five years after its original announcement. The comment comes from a Team Cherry employee in marketing and publishing, responding to a fan asking how the game is progressing.

The Hollow Knight: Silksong community has been ablaze in recent weeks with theories and rumours aplenty about when the hotly-anticipated sequel will finally release. While none are yet to come to fruition, Team Cherry has provided a tiny development update, just to reassure everyone that the game actually does exist and it "will release" one day.

Hollow Knight: Silksong still doesn't have a release date, but that hasn't stopped developer Team Cherry from trying to have its cake and eat it, too. Having tortured its fanbase for years with an admirably lackadaisical pace of development, the devs are now trolling players with a picture of a piece of chocolate cake.
