Agree that June to Aug would be best time to visit. Earlier the better as water levels will be high from the melted ice and snow and the color of the lakes will be richer. We went in late August and had a great time. But it does get cold in late August and also the water levels are not so high. we went white water rafting and you could see the banks of the river and at certain spots, the base of the raft was touching the rocks/stones in the river.
