We just were in NYC in April and wanted to see shows at a discount. The TKTS line is very long and you never know what you'll be able to book until you get to the ticket window. …

We just were in NYC in April and wanted to see shows at a discount. The TKTS line is very long and you never know what you'll be able to book until you get to the ticket window. We really scored great tickets with good discounts by going to the theaters directly the morning of the show. The theaters will sell you "RUSH" tickets or same day tickets at a discount! You just have to ask for the discount. We saw Chicago same day for about $38 per ticket, and saw Jersey Boys the next day for about half price. The risk is that they are sold out or your seats aren't that great, but that's the same risk you'd have standing in line for TKTS. We had seats up close to the stage slightly to the side for both shows -- we loved it and loved the discounts!!!
